Young Writers
So many writers stop before they even start...
Young people love telling stories.
But too many believe:
They aren’t good enough
You have to be a ‘proper writer’
Creativity is only worthwhile if it comes with a mark out of 20
Studies have shown the many benefits of creative writing for adolescents. These include:
Reduces anxiety and stress helping them process complex emotions
Aids problem solving, metacognition and abstract thinking
Builds self confidence and helps shape their identity
Encourages empathy and understanding other points of view
(Evidence from Pennebaker, McAdams & other writing studies)
I loved writing stories as a child and often wished I could find a place to share them with others.
Now I get to offer others what my younger self craved.
