all shook up
The old man’s eyes weren’t what they once were, so he needed a closer look. The attendants chair was empty, and other than him, there was only a young couple in the room who seemed more interested in each other than the artwork.
The old man wondered why there were three Elvises in the picture, why three when there was only ever one true King of Rock’n’roll.
He squinted at each Elvis, looking for discrepancies, seeing if the one true Elvis would reveal himself.
He needed to get closer but hadn’t noticed the silver wire strung one foot of the ground, put there to stop people getting too close, so as he inched closer, his foot caught the wire, his balance failed and smashed his head straight into the wall where Elvis times three hung.
The attendant appeared, looking sheepish, smelling of tobacco. He helped the old man to his feet, sat him on his chair.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“Not really,” the old man replied, “I’m All Shook Up.”
