About five [?] years ago when Coldplay was on their "Rush of Blood to the Head" tour, I bought a single ticket to see them at the Hollywood Bowl. I was planning on going with my friends Amy and Andrew and we figured that I could just walk over and hang with them during the concert. No big deal. I remember getting the ticket in the mail from Ticketmaster and putting it....somewhere.... About a week before the concert, I tore my entire condo upside down looking for the damn thing. Nope. Never was found and, to date, never has been found. I kept thinking that I would find it in my move to Tucson...but my ticket appears to have disappeared. Sort of like what happened later with my goldfish.
You see, I used to have almost 30 goldfish in a pond just outside of my kitchen in my subsequent Los Angeles house. I bought this cool old house in the hills above Sunset Blvd and west of Laurel Canyon. It had french doors that opened onto a wrap-around deck with a mini-waterfall and a pond to the right. One day I returned from work to find ALL OF THE GOLDFISH GONE. There was NOT A SINGLE INDICATOR THAT THEY HAD EVER BEEN THERE. No bones, footprints, paw prints...nothing. Obviously an alien aircraft lowered itself down and abducted every single one of the poor things. I looked at Spike (who had been home all day -- as was his custom....being a cat) and he just shrugged his shoulders. Everyone I told the story to agreed that it must have been raccoons. But when have you ever run across raccoons that were so damn efficient and neat? The ones I know (from Virginia) always leave a huge mess in their wake. Maybe its just the in-bred Virginia line of raccoons who don't know how to be tidy and hide all the evidence. These Los Angeles raccoons are much more sophisticated. Anyway, like my Coldplay tickets, those goldfish were never seen (dead or alive) again.
Because I never got to see Coldplay live back then, I bought tickets to see Coldplay on their latest tour. I got a seat on the floor and everything! Well, I KNOW I got the damn thing in the mail but I cannot find it anywhere. I looked through my entire Tucson house this weekend and I can't find it. Can this really be happening again? Where are the hidden cameras? Did I REALLY JUST LOSE A SECOND COLDPLAY TICKET? I am apparently cursed when it comes to Coldplay. Did I lose the Wayne Newton tickets? Of course not. If I don't find this ticket, it'll be the last time I EVER buy a Coldplay concert ticket again. I obviously have some subconscious desire to miss seeing that band live. I have no idea what the problem is.
I'm going to keep looking and talk to Ticketmaster customer service and see if there's anything I can do about the missing ticket. Yeesh. The concert is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. A perfect time!
