Horrifying

Yesterday morning, this 24 year old kid wandered onto the I10 (the Mad Max highway) near the heart of Phoenix and got hit by over 40 cars.  They couldn't find parts of his body that were more than 1 foot long.  This accident shut down the freeway for five hours as they picked up remains over an 800 foot area.  Now....I have no idea how fast you have to go to disintegrate a body like that but this was at 4:30 in the morning.  I imagine that these cars were going really fast.  How on earth did 40 cars hit a person?  Reports say that they have narrowed it down to five cars with the most damage that were the first to hit him but there were no indications that they were going to go after these guys for...at least...speeding.  I mean, the fellow was likely under the influence of something to dare to get out of his vehicle and walk along the freeway.  I also read somewhere that he was weaving and likely wandered out into the traffic.. ..but still....40 cars?!?  I mean....even 5 cars!  One is the only acceptable number and there'd better be long skid marks.  I don't understand this at all.  Maybe I'm just too naive for this town.
