Some observations:
1. Spike will never die and I'll never escape his evil-catness. I was wondering what the strange smell was in my bag and last night realized that he had left me a little wet urine present. I don't know how many times this is going to happen to me but I'm guessing that it is in the triple digits. That cat is 16 years old and still going strong and, obviously, still up to his old mischief. He gave me sort of a smug look when I left my house and now I know why. I guess all of his years of reading Kafka have had some influence. I should "accidentally" place some Ghandi near his food and put Franz on the higher shelves.
2. I can't understand anyone here. Apparently they speak english -- that's what all the guide books say at least. The accent is barely understandable -- they probably can't understand me either. This is worse than Scotland! I've run out of polite ways to ask someone to repeat themselves. I just told someone that I was "mentally deficient" and asked that they speak slowly. That worked pretty well.
3. If you don't look at vendors, they eventually leave you alone. I've not looked at this aloe vera lotion guy who stops by my beach chair every morning and he finally got the message this morning and walked on by. Now, the coconut sales guy....he's going to need some concentrated ignoring. I don't know who he's kidding, the beach is lined with coconut trees...I'm not paying ten bucks for something that he picks up off the beach! He's probably just charging to the use of his machete.
4. I didn't go to Lawrence Gap yesterday. Instead, I went to "Emerald City" which I, of course, thought for a long time was "Admiral City." There is a supermarket there and I bought some snacks and drinks and some, much needed, ibuprofen. Like Germany, you can buy ibuprofen here in 200 and, for some reason, 342 mg doses. I'm feeling much better now.
